Black mustard is an annual plant that has been cultivated since early ages in the tropical regions of North Africa, and temperate regions of Europe and Asia. It has dark brown seeds which are used as a spice across India, and many parts of South Asia. Our organically grown black mustard has seeds which are around 1mm and have dark brown to black colour. They add a nice nutty flavour to the dish, but have no aroma. They are used in Indian cuisine to make curries, usually being fried in the beginning by adding them into hot oil or ghee, due to which they pop, releasing that nutty flavour. They are rich in fatty oil, and the oil is also used for cooking purposes in India. It’s health benefits include aiding in obtaining relief from cold and cough, and reducing muscular pain.
