Rice Poha, are rice which are beaten and flattened into light, dry flakes. They are small in size, about 2 mm long, and are white or greyish in colour. Rice flakes are very popular across India, Nepal and Bangladesh, and are used to prepare snacks or light fast food, and sometimes even for long consumption of a week or more as well. They can be prepared in a number of ways, depending on how the taste is desired. Poha can be eaten raw by simply immersing them into water or milk, and adding sugar or salt to taste. They can also be made into a dry crunchy sweet snack by frying them in a small amount of oil along with adding sweet spices and condiments. Flattened rice are also used to make porridge or paste, and are sometimes given to sick people to help them feel better. They do not have any particular aroma and have bland gentle taste, and are a good source of complex carbohydrates, fibres and proteins. We prepare the flattened rice from organic rice, which makes for a healthier and tastier option compared to other types of Poha.
